Audio Merge & Split App Reviews

14 Customer Reviews:

I would love to give “Audio Merge & Split” a 5* review but sadly it only does half the job it’s title promises. The “Merge” function is quick and efficient as long as the number of files (all the same MP3 format!) to be merged doesn’t exceed 30. More than 30 causes the app to crash. The “Split” function doesn’t work at all on MP3 files, not even small-sized 20MB files, just throws up an error report for each file. The app has a neat slick interface. Since this is version 1.0, I’m hoping the developer (Huafang Liu) addresses the shortcomings and posts an improved version sometime soon.

Poor product. When splitting into tracks, there is no export option and it only exports in WAV, even though its on a Mac and the source file Im using is AIF/AIFF. You can only split a song up to 10 tracks. No ability to zoom or fine-tune into an audio timeline, and you can only split a track at one-second segments (not sub-second segments), which is horrible when splitting continuous audio.

I have a DAC which does not do well buffering between songs that continue between tracks (i.e.: Pink Floyd The Wall or The Endless River) - so I got this $1 app to merge those .WAV files. IT WORKS! I then used it to trim (split) the black space at the end of the Cold Play song “O” - again, it works! Seems to create bit perfect files.

I read the comment posted by DavidKellyPhoto and purchased this app. This app works great for merging tracks together. I am happy with the purchase, THE APP WORKS as described.

I set an audio file to split at 00:09:36 and it consitently splits the Audio at 00:09:00. The interface is also pretty clunky. I am quite disappointed.

Very good apps and reasonable price

Very very good apps and very reasonable price, just what I needed! So easy to use considering that I have no experience whatsoever in editing songs!

Quick and easy to use. Old recordings where the CD recorder recordered the first 70-80 minutes of a sermon & then you record the rest of the sermon on another CD. You end up with 2 mp3 files and now I can merge both files to cleanup and organize the media content on servers.

Very annoying request for Customer Rating pops up every few minutes. Would be nice if input files could be sorted (not a deal killer). Otherwise works well. I would rate it higher if it were less annoying.

Dividing up audiobooks so I can play them at night for a half hour or so. Only downside…. please, have some dignity and stop asking for ratings so often.

Converting large multi-hour mp3 audio books can result in the final split file being truncated. Enough of an issue that I have moved on to another tool.

What it says on the tin

Combines multiple tracks into a single file, splendidly

Works but needs work

Does a pretty good job of merging files bet needs a few tweaks to make it more user friendly. One simple thing is the ablitly to run full screen. Currently unable to see complete file names to verify correct file order inless you click on info button. the option to select all would speed up deletion of previously converted files. and the naming of output file would be nice a well. currently just uses name of first file.

Doesn't Work.

I have a large audio file, it simply does nothing when I drag and drop to it.

Brossiah · 6 years ago

TERRIBLE

when multiple mp3 are joined together there is an audible click to be heard at the merge point. so if you have, say, 5 multiple fragments of one continuous song that you want to merge together as one, you will hear 5 pops during playback of the merged file. what a waste of 99¢ lol.

Does what I wanted it to do!

Simple tool and does what I wanted it to do: merger several note taking M4a files into one. Definitley worth the price.

Doesn't support cue files

Waste of time and money.

Limited in scope but does its part well

I got this app to merge MP3 files together that iTunes sells separately but should be played together. I was doing it by hand using Audacity, and it was tedious but got the job done. As a replacement for creating merged files by hand, this app merges the files well, but it leaves work for me that it should do for me to give it more stars. Specifically, it’s creating an MP3 file but not updating any of the metadata. When all of the metadata in the files being joined is identical (except for the name and the track number), then those data elements can safely be used as metadata in the merged file. This includes the album art. I look forward to this enhancement in a future version of the app.

NOT ACCURATE

I tried splitting an mp3 clip into 3 pieces and the markers did not reflect the clips that were output.

Cacnyc169 hello · 8 years ago

Not Useful

This doesn’t allow you to zoom in or out on the wave, nor does it allow you to save any file type. If you want to split an MP3 into a WAV, you cannot do that. Not useful in my opinion.

Best .99 cent purchase EVER

Does Exactly what I needed, Split an AIFF in segments. Thank you.

I’m no pro but...

After just 20 minutes of trial and error, I created exactly what I was trying to make…a frightening series of growls, snorts and roars for a Halloween project. The app is intuitive and straightforward so even newbies can figure it out.

GaleFrances · 8 years ago

Avoid

No instructions, no links to an FAQ document, features that aren’t intuitive — this needs too much work.Don’t stick a ridiculous message on THE REVIEW COMMENT BOX as your only pointer to assistance! Jeepers. I wish I could get my money back.

splitting nice

just what i was looking for perfect good job

Worked perfectly

I’ve tried a bunch of these apps to split and merge some audio files and I couldn’t find one that actually worked for me. This one did the trick. Worked great.

DebbieN. · 9 years ago

Well worth the dollar.

There are a couple of minor issues that I have seen so far. - It will only split an audio file into 10 pieces, so you may need to split and then re-split. - In the info pane, the text of the file name does not wrap. One feature that I really appreciate is how the newly created files are named. The start and stop times that you assign are appended to the original file name. So, when you finish, the new files are in order and ready for bulk renaming.

Does not complete joining files

Does not complete joining files, stops short. Until that problem is addressed this is useless to me. Also that anoying rate request. Kill it after the first time.
